Tiffwat recipes: favourite recipes for travelling

Ice cream

Oh good heavens, you can't go wrong with making Ice cream! (Well, you can. Even the chickens wouldn't eat the fig ice cream...) One thing that makes life a lot easier, however, is an ice cream maker. We have a Breville Ice cream maker. They aren't advertised much, but you can usually find them on a Breville website, and large 'white goods' stores will get them. They cost less than A$100.

This is an old Breville ice cream maker, the creator of much happiness!

Our basic Ice Cream maker: the source of many desserts

Sandwich bar    This is the quickest and easiest ice cream to make, and unlike the others, it does not need an ice cream maker, It's so full of cream and sugar that it automatically sets to the perfect consistency!

Chocolate ice cream
. We've tried many, but always go back to this 'Ben and Jerry's recipe, because we still think that it is the best we've found so far (thanks Ben and Jerry!). If you think yours is better, please tell us. We also have a very grown-up addition which you mustn't tell the kids about.

Lime Sorbet. Very sweet, very tart, very cleansing, very strong flavour, very easy to make. Yummy, but will have people talking because it is so different to what you normally expect from ice cream.

Ginger ice cream. This is the one that will take you to heaven. You cannot believe this rather grown-up taste, that (unfortunately) the kids like too.

Strawberry ice cream. We didn't like Ben and Jerry's, so we've modified Delia's blackcurrant ice cream to take strawberries, and tweaked it slightly to make this delight.

Cinnamon ice cream. This is an egg custard, flavoured with lots of cinnamon and frozen. Fantastic with anything involving baked apples, like crumble or pie. Pretty good by itself, too.
